Congrats to the varsity cheerleaders on winning the city championship last Saturday!

Interested in being an ACES Mentor?

There will be an A.C.E.S. Mentors Recruitment Info session on March 22, at 3.15pm in room 113.  Those interested in mentoring 7th graders are welcome.

Freshmen Registration

Course registration for freshmen with a GPA of 3.5 or higher has been extended until Thursday, March 21 at 4pm.

All remaining freshmen will register on Friday, March 22 from 7am to 4pm.

Senior Service Learning Hours

All seniors must have their 40 Service Learning Hours completed and submitted by April 11 to remain on the graduation list.  If you have not completed your hours, you are advised to seek opportunities during spring break.

Broadcast Awards:
· Julian Tovar, Michelle Ha, Ethan Hart-Cook, Ana Romo, and Abbey Schuester received a rating of SUPERIOR in the category of Broadcast Feature Story.

· Elyssa Ronda, Herman Pineda, and Brittany Nevils received a rating of EXCELLENT in the category of Broadcast Sports Story

· Carlos Linares & Julian Tovar received a rating of EXCELLENT in the category of Broadcast Public Service Announcement.

Lane Buddies Prom

On Friday, March 15, Lane Tech hosted its 2nd annual Lane Buddies Prom.  Lane Buddies was started last year by Ms. Murphy and Ms. Ronkoske.  The club was previously affiliated with the international Best Buddies organization, which promotes friendships between people with disabilities and those without.  Lane Buddies follows the same mission but meets the needs of Lane Tech and its diverse students.

For various reasons, many of the seniors in the Special Education program are unable to attend the annual senior prom, such as mobility and accessibility.  The Lane Buddies Prom gives students with disabilities the opportunity to participate in this meaningful high school tradition.  By bringing prom to our students, it ensures that all students are able to participate, attend with a date, dress up, take pictures, and enjoy the experience!

This year's Lane Buddies Prom was Grammy-themed, complete with a red carpet and VIP photo wall.  The Lane Tech Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble even provided live music for the occasion.  Students wore corsages and extravagant sunglasses and crowned a prom king and queen.

Murphy promises to make next year's Lane Buddies Prom bigger and even better!
