1st Annual LT Bully Prevention Walk

On Wednesday, October 22 (National Unity Day), the Lane Tech Counseling Department, Student Council, and Lettermen Club hosted the first annual  LT Bullying Prevention Walk.  Bullying has increased so much nationwide that there are different levels of classification: verbal, social, physical, and cyber bullying.  The Lane Tech staff and students hope to bring attention to this issue and put a stop to bullying!  All proceeds from the walk were donated to The Bully Project.  For more info, check out http://www.thebullyproject.com.

Help Make FIRST Robotics an IHSA Sport

Our students at Lane have competed all the way to the World Championship for Robotics for the past two years.  Lane Tech is the only school in the district (there are 664 schools) that has a robotics team that has ever competed at this level.  No other school in Chicago has ever done this before.  IHSA has broadened its guidelines to allow chess and drama to be included as an IHSA recognized activity but has yet to include robotics.  Due to the competitive nature of robotics, we would like the IHSA to consider officially recognizing and including FIRST Robotics.  Please take a minute out of your day to sign the following petition for the IHSA to include Robotics.  This would mean a great deal to our students and school.

Happy October!

Fun Fact
While October is the 10th month of the year, its Latin root of "Octo" implies that it would be associated with the number 8.  Why, you ask?  The old Roman calendar had 10 months, with October being the 8th month.  The later addition of January and February to the modern day calendar resulted in October becoming the 10th month.
