Principal Introduction

Hello Lane Tech Families,

As we move into the 2017 school year, I am especially excited to become a member of the Lane Tech community. I am coming from William Howard Taft IB World School where I was the Assistant Principal over Curriculum and Instruction. I started my teaching career at Whitney M. Young Magnet high school where I taught for 18 years. The value of education is personal to me. As a first generation college graduate I have experienced the transformative power of good teaching. The need to have high functioning and effective public schools is of utmost importance to the vitality of Chicago.  This is my reason for having spent the last 22 years in CPS.  I eagerly anticipate collaborating with the teachers, staff,  parents, alumni, and community, in order to understand and continue to build on the exceptional history that Is Lane Tech.

This is a big year of transition from ACT to SAT, and we as a school will be focusing on aligning our instruction to support students in this shift. Furthermore, we are welcoming the class of 2020 and the LTAC class of 2022 into the Lane Tech school of champions!  It is our hope that you become highly active members of this great school. We will also see our Class of 2017 join other alumni in following their passions and representing us in universities, the military, careers, arts, our community, and communities throughout our country. It is my hope that they bring the pride of their school, the excellent education they have received, and the close friendships that they have made so they can impact and help our country and community as so many past alumni have and continue to do.

I hope to see students, parents and alumni at our home opening football game on Friday,  August 26 at Lane Stadium, please say hello.

Go Lane Go!!!!

Sincerely,
Brian Tennison

Creative School Certification
Congratulations to our Art and Music teachers for receiving the highest "Excelling" rating for the CPS Creative Schools certification!

The Creative Schools Certification places schools into categories that describe the level to which they meet the goals and priorities outlined in the CPS Arts Education Plan based on school-reported arts data.  Three major data collection areas are targeted: Staffing & Instruction, Partnerships, Community & Culture, and Budget and Planning. This certification provides opportunities for additional resources, supports and funding to help schools address gaps in arts learning, build more robust arts programs, and accomplish the goal of every CPS child in every CPS school having access to a high-quality arts education.
