Lane All Stars

Creative School Certification
Congratulations to our Art and Music teachers for receiving the highest "Excelling" rating for the CPS Creative Schools certification!

The Creative Schools Certification places schools into categories that describe the level to which they meet the goals and priorities outlined in the CPS Arts Education Plan based on school-reported arts data.  Three major data collection areas are targeted: Staffing & Instruction, Partnerships, Community & Culture, and Budget and Planning. This certification provides opportunities for additional resources, supports and funding to help schools address gaps in arts learning, build more robust arts programs, and accomplish the goal of every CPS child in every CPS school having access to a high-quality arts education.

Robotics
Congratulations to Lane's Robotics Team, X-Machina, for their stellar performance at the Midwest Regional Competition this weekend at the UIC Pavilion. X-Machina held onto 1st place throughout the first quarter of the competition and ended up on the fourth seed alliance going into the playoff rounds. After a tough fight they ultimately got knocked out in a rubber match during the quarter-finals. In the end they beat out corporate teams from Caterpillar, Motorola and WMS. In addition, X-Machina shattered records by having the 3rd highest scoring qualifying match played this season by any alliance in the world!

Congratulations to our amazing drive team: Carson Chang, Dylan Haugh-Ewald, Andrea Vega and team captain Abu Qader. Also worth noting was our highly talented pit crew made up of Nicholas Udell, Maria De La Torre, Cynthia Martinez, Stefan Borjan and Laura Mock.  Congratulations to our teacher sponsors and the Best Friend Club, Ben Durham, Dan Law, Jeff Solin, Lindsey Smit, and Jenny Hinz-Roscoe!
