Balikbayan Project
As many of you may know, areas of the Philippines were devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. Nationally, 3,976 were confirmed dead, 1,598 are missing, 18,175 are injured, and close to 1.9 million are now homeless. Lane Tech's Filipino Club and Tri-M Music Honors Society are working together to help provide relief with the first Balikbayan Project. Filipinos overseas often send Balikbayan boxes to family members back home with everyday items that are not available in the Philippines.
Beginning Wednesday, we are asking classroom teachers to collect canned goods, batteries, and sealed medical supplies (first aid kits, gauze, cotton). On Tuesday, Filipino Club and Tri-M students will collect the items and will box them up so that they can be sent to the Philippines. Additionally, on Thursday, November 21, Tri-M will be hosting a benefit concert and will be collecting canned goods and monetary donations.
If you have any questions or would like to lend a helping hand, please contact Monico Yadao (mpyadao@cps.edu) or stop by Room 234.

Attendance Incentive Program
Starting this quarter (Q2), Lane Tech will be launching an Attendance Incentive Program!
Lane Tech understands the importance of students coming to school every day. Each month, students will have an important reason to come to school and each parent will have a reason to send their students to school.
Did you know?
Being in school every day raises your student’s chances for scoring well on tests, and securing college admission and scholarship opportunities. Helping your child make regular attendance at school a habit now, can carry over when they seek employment.
Incentive Program Details
There will be a raffle for 3-5 students each quarter for a chance to win a few of our awards for Perfect Attendance and Most Improved Attendance. Check below for the rewards we are offering for your efforts to make it to school every day!
· Pizza Party for the TOP 10 Students a quarter for Perfect Attendance
