Weekend Wins

Congratulations to the Lane Tech Math Team for finishing first in their division in this weekend's CCML (City of Chicago Math League) competition here at Lane Tech.

The team was led with a first place finish by the Algebra 1 team, and 2nd place finishes by the Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus Teams.

Additionally, freshman Ari Greenberg placed 2nd in Algebra 1 (Accelerated), sophomore Maggie Scholle placed 3rd in Geometry (Accelerated), and junior Johan Villanueva placed 3rd in Algebra 2 (In Progress).

Lane finished in 2nd place at the Academic Decathlon City Championships!  State qualifiers were:

Of the 90 subject area medals awarded (10 events x 3 medals x 3 academic divisions) Lane won 22 (over twice as many as last year).  In addition, Celso (Trey) Fuentes and Crystal Pham won the overall silver and bronze medals in the Varsity Division, respectively.  Our team finished second in the SuperQuiz competition.

Celso (Trey) Fuentes (’17):   1 silver, 5 bronze, 2 honorable mentions (2rd place overall in the Varsity Division)
Crystal Pham (’17):  1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze, 1 honorable mention (3rd place overall in the Varsity Division)

Scholastic division
Anil Chakravorty (’17):  1 silver, 5 honorable mentions
Sydney Somchith (’17):  1 bronze, 2 honorable mentions
Ethan Recinto (’17):  1 gold, 3 honorable mentions

Honors
Amy Argentar (’17):  3 bronze, 4 honorable mentions (overall high team scorer)
Rejhui Pagala (’17):  2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze, 1 honorable mention
Fatima Abusaman (’15):  1 bronze, 3 honorable mentions
