Lane Tech Start Time

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff:

Chicago Public Schools has made some difficult choices in an attempt to become a more efficient organization.  One of those changes is in the student transportation schedule.  This change has forced over 80 schools to shift starting times for students.  Lane will, as a result of this change, have two starting times for the 2015-16 school year.  Most Lane Tech College Prep students will start at 8:05 am and be dismissed at 3:20 pm.  LTAC students will begin second period at 9:00 am and be dismissed at 4:15 pm.  This schedule was created to make the best of the unfortunate situation that currently exists at CPS.  I have contacted student transportation and made multiple requests that start time be changed from 9:00am to 8:00 am.  I have been told that a change to the bus schedule is not possible.

I have heard from many of you about the proposed change of start time for LTAC.  Lane Tech College Prep staff is committed to continue providing extracurricular activities for all Lane students.  The staff is busy revising schedules to ensure LTAC students have opportunities to continue to take high school classes.

Principal Selection

Dear Lane Students, Staff, Parents and Community,

The Lane Tech Local School Council held an Emergency Meeting last night to discuss Principal Selection. After almost 2 hours of deliberation (on top of the 3 hours last Thursday night), neither of the remaining 2 candidates had sufficient support to be awarded a contract. In order for the LSC to award a contract, one candidate must have the support of at least 7 members. The next LSC Meeting (the Organizational Meeting), will take place on Thursday, July 9th at 9:00am at DeVry University. At that meeting, Principal Selection will be on the agenda. Due to the necessity for a Leader/Principal, the Network Chief will be appointing an "Administrator in Charge."

The LSC is fully aware of the everyone's concerns. We have made great progress up to this point, and are hopeful the we will be able to make a final decision soon. The District, and the Network Chief are deeply involved and committed to helping Lane move forward.

Crusade for Art Grant

Congratulations to Art Teacher Joe Wilcox, whose project was selected for the Crusade Engagement Grant!  Out of hundreds of applicants nationwide, the .LDOC project by Danielle and Joe Wilcox was selected for the $10,000 prize.

Yearbooks are in!

Seniors can pick up yearbooks beginning Thursday, May 21 during lunch periods and after school until 4:15 in 137.

Juniors can pick up yearbooks on Friday, May 22 during lunch periods in 137.

All other students can pick up yearbooks on Tuesday, May 26 during lunch periods and after school until 4:15 in 137.

If you did not order a yearbook, there will be a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase during the designated class times listed above.  Extras will be sold on a first come basis.
