Weekend Wins
Congrats to the Freshmen Girls Basketball Team and Coach Lauren O'Malley for winning city! The girls are undefeated!
The Academic Decathlon team won the division in a squeaker beating Northside by 80 points. Of the 63 subject area medals awarded (7 events x 3 medals x 3 academic divisions) Lane won 23. In addition, Lane students, Reijhui Pagala (Soph) and Amy Argentar (Soph) won the overall gold and silver medals in the Honors division, respectively. While, Juan Domingo (Sr) and Sergej Kulikov (Soph) won the overall bronze medals in their respective divisions, Scholastic and Varsity.
Lane also won the SuperQuiz competition for the North/Northwest region but was narrowly defeated by Whitney (38-35) for the overall competition title. This event, which is open to the public, is a stand alone competition and all regions compete at the same time together.
Here is an individual breakdown of medal winners:

Sergej Kulikov (Soph): 1 gold, 2 silver, 3 honorable mentions, overall bronze medalist in Varsity division
Katie Gross (Soph): 1 gold, 1 bronze, 5 honorable mentions
Shantel Edouard (Soph): 4 honorable mentions
Scholastic division

Cold Weather Makeup Days
To ensure students receive the valuable instructional time that was intended for January 7 and 8,CPS has made changes to its academic calendar for this school year. These changes are as follows:
-Friday, January 30, which was scheduled to be a School Improvement Day with no classes, will now be a regular attendance day for all students.
-Wednesday, June 17, which was scheduled to be the first day of students’ summer break, will now be a regular attendance day for all students.
-Students’ summer break will begin on Thursday, June 18.
