FTC Robotics Team Goes to State!
On Saturday, December 8th, both of Lane Tech's FTC Robotics Teams competed in the Illinois FIRST Robotics State Competition hosted by IIT. In their rookie year, Team #5928--The Third Wheel, ranked 11th place in Illinois, and Team #6459--The Cyborg Indians, ranked 27th place in Illinois. Mr. Durham, Mr. Law and Ms. Smit are incredibly proud of each team's success!

Additional Spirit Store Hours - Just in time for the holidays!

Science and Math Fair Recap
On Tues, Dec 11, Lane's α-STEM sophomores and juniors (and three exceptional seniors!) participated in the high school Science and Mathematics Fair.
The following day, Lane Tech Academic Center (LTAC) students presented their research and findings to students in the α-STEM program and to Lane Tech faculty members.
Nearly 300 students participated in this week's fairs. Because participation in the Science and Math Fairs has been so high in the past, Lane decided to host three separate fairs to accommodate the increasing student interest. The Lane Tech α-STEM Freshmen will participate in their own Science and Math Fair in May.
The following students will be advancing to the regional fair at Northeastern University in January:

Letters to Santa
Check out all the gifts from the Key Club's "Letters to Santa" service project!
Students acted as Santa Claus for over 700 needy children, providing them with beautifully wrapped presents this Christmas. The Key Club is a service organization that regularly volunteers with charities and community organizations. "Letters to Santa" is only one of many ways that Lane Tech students give back. Great job!

Lane Tech English Department Scavenger Hunt
Have you completed the English Department Scavenger Hunt? The deadline is Tuesday!
Here's how you play:
Print out the descriptions from the English Department's Top of the Totem Pole feature (www.lanetech.org, photo #6)
Next, decipher the clues, ask some questions, and figure out the teachers. You must get the teacher's signature next to his or her description. You MAY NOT under any circumstances disrupt teachers while they are teaching. If you interrupt them, you run the risk of disqualifying yourself.
After you have all the signatures, turn in your signed papers to Mrs. Thompson in room 233. You must give them to her directly and be able to show her your school ID.
If the answers are correct, they will be entered in a raffle. Four winners will be drawn on December 19 in the morning and will be announced during Advisory. The prizes are a $25 gift certificate to Chipotle, a $25 gift certificate to Mariano's, a $25 gift certificate to Meatheads, and a $25 gift certificate to Subway.
